Riverside Dr, | October 03, 2023 Haverstraw Tilcon

At 2:34 p.m. yesterday, our West Haverstraw Fire Department Fast Team received a crucial mutual aid request from the Haverstraw Fire Department. The call led them to a challenging fire situation at the Haverstraw Tilcon quarry on Riverside Dr. Upon their arrival, it was evident that this was no ordinary call. The team, led by 4-1, declared a "working fire" as they approached the scene, with the smoke visible from over a mile away. Daytime manpower was limited, making their swift response even more critical. Working in collaboration with the members of Engine 5, also known as Lady Warren Hose, they tackled multiple fires on the conveyor belts before venturing into the elevated machine room, where the fire had proven difficult to access. In a moment of expertise and resourcefulness, our West Haverstraw Fast Team deployed the Cockloft Void space nozzle, an invaluable tool carried by our team. This specialized nozzle was the key to extinguishing the remaining fire. With its deployment, the last embers were swiftly knocked down, ensuring the safety of all involved. This fire was nothing short of labor-intensive, far from any routine operation. Shortly after 4:30 p.m., our team was released from the scene, only to face their fifth call of the day, which turned out to be a false alarm. Despite the challenges, there were no reported injuries, and our heroes finally returned to their quarters by 5:30 p.m. They diligently cleaned all equipment, ensuring it was again ready for service. We salute the unwavering dedication and bravery of our West Haverstraw Fast Team. Their commitment to protecting our community is truly remarkable. #WestHaverstrawHeroes #volhosecompany2 #FastTeam #FirefightingHeroes
