On May 15th, 2023, both SW Johnson and Volunteer Hose Company #2 performed drill night at Helen Hayes Hospital. The purpose of the drill was to learn about stand pipes within the hospital and how to implement search and rescue tactics within a large environment such as the hospital. Our seasoned members Andy Kolesar, Mike Perri and Richard Fenner explained in details on where and how to connect to the stand pipes. They also oversaw the group search drills of the less seasoned members of the company. Topics such as clear and concise communications, quick and thorough first searches and creating mental maps of the setting in low or no visibility conditions were reviewed. In addition, we had a few potential new members observing the drills which is quite exciting for the members of Volunteer Hose Company #2.
