On April 8, 2023, at 3:03 p.m., the department members responded with mutual aid to the Thiells Fire Department to assist in extinguishing a large brush fire burning in the St. Johns Wilderness within Harriman State Park. Members spent over two hours battling the fire before returning to service. We can’t thank our volunteers enough for answering the call every day and night when duty calls. Volunteer firefighters throughout the fire service are at an all-time low. Volunteers are needed now more than ever. Everyone who responded today left family, friends, and food on the table to help contain this fire. Help us help you. If we don’t answer the call, then who will?
